Lane’s work draws from British ceramic history, particularly the legacy of Wedgwood and the material culture of Stoke-on-Trent, alongside the narrative ecosystems of Brian Froud, vernacular architecture, medieval symbolic landscapes, and natural growth structures such as bark, root systems, and earthen dwellings. Community studio woodfire traditions in Northern California also play an important role in shaping her surface language.
